Here is a list of funding opportunities for individuals in the performing arts. Qaggiavuut is happy to support any Nunavut performing artists with guidance in the funding proposal process, please contact us! 

AFC Reactivation Program

The AFC Reactivation Program provides financial support for expenses such as training fees, licenses or certifications costs, equipment purchase or rental, other expenses related to your work and basic living expenses like rent or bills, debt or expenses due to the pandemic.

Eligible Applicants: independent, self-employed, and gig workers in the performing arts, such as technicians; production professionals; theatre, comedy and circus performers; and other live performance professionals. You don’t have to be unemployed to apply. Canada-wide

Canada Council for the Arts

The Canada Council for the Arts has funding for a wide range of projects.

Department of Culture and Heritage - Nunavut

The Department of Culture and Heritage provides grant and contribution funding to the promotion, protection and preservation of Nunavut’s culture and heritage, official languages, and activities that support elders and youth.

Department of Culture and Heritage - Canada

The Canadian Federal Government has funding available for the performing arts, including artist training, musicians, new media projects and more.

Factor

Factor is a private non-profit organisation dedicated to providing assistance toward the growth and development of the Canadian music industry.

Indigenous Screen Office

ISO has funding to support Indigenous storytelling in film and new media. 

Eligible Applicants: Varies, Individuals and Organisations, Canada-Wide

Makigiaqta

Makigiaqta has funding for Individuals to support Mentorship, Internships & Other Training Support.

Eligible Applicants: Individuals enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement, whether they live inside or outside of Nunavut

MusiCounts

MusiCounts is a music education charity to make music education inclusive, sustainable, and accessible for youth across Canada by providing musical instruments, equipment, and resources. 

Eligible Applicants: Non-profits, schools and individuals across Canada

Nunavut Film Development Corporation

Nunavut Film provides funding, training and film commission services in Nunavut.

Eligible Applicants: Varies, Nunavut-based

RBC Emerging Artists Project

The RBC Emerging Artists Project supports organisations that provide an opportunity to advance an artist’s career in genres such as visual arts, music, theatre, performance, literature and film.

SOCAN Foundation

SOCAN Foundation provides grants for Canadian music creators and publishers working to promote the appreciation of Canadian music.
