A performance of Kiviuq Returns is presented at the Arctic Inspiration Prize Gala, Shaw Centre, Ottawa. January 31, 7pm

Come to see the new cast of the play, as they present to the AIP Gala audience, before setting off to the Kitikmeot and Kivalliq regions of Nunavut to work with youth and present to communities.

In the winter of 2017, Inuit elders shared their Kiviuq stories with the Qaggiq Theatre Collective. These elders are the ‘Inumariit’, ‘Inutugaq’, ‘Innait’--the last Canadian indigenous people to have lived their lives traditionally on the land. They told the stories they had learned as children in iglus, sealskin tents and sod houses.
In the spring, The Qaggiq Collective began to workshop the with the elders to create a play. In June 2017 the team first put the play onto the stage at the Banff Centre for the Arts and have since toured to Ottawa, Kingston, Toronto, Clyde River and Pangnirtung.

Following the performance at the 2018 Arctic Inspiration Prize Ceremony, Kiviuq Returns and its accompanying children and youth performance workshops will tour Rankin Inlet, Arviat, Cambridge Bay and Kugluktuk.
The full length 80 minute version of Kiviuq Returns is booked for a 4 week run in Toronto in fall 2018 At the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto.
